How enhanced aviation security impacts on Sikh passengers, Verpal Singh.

In the last issue we featured an exclusive re-print from Queenstown's Mountain Scene newspaper about hotel worker, Harminder Singh Mav's embarrassment when he was kicked off a Qantas flight to Auckland over soldering iron stained glass.

Speaking to Migrant News from Pukekohe in South Auckland, Ganges Singh, QSM, JP, the President of the Counties Manukau Ethnic Council felt that an apology from Qantas, at the 10 euro bonus ohne einzahlung casino 2020, was in order.

Since then, Pansy Wong, MP and National Party's spokesperson on Ethnic Affairs has earned the respect of the Sikh community of New Zealand by taking a pro-active interest in getting some issues between the Aviation Industry and the community resolved.

Being a member of Transport and Industrial Relations Select Committee, she was also instrumental in having the concerns of the Sikh community put on record regarding the Aviation Security Legislation Bill.

"We are grateful to Pansy Wong for facilitating the process through which we were able to have our concerns heard and taken note of by the governmental and non-governmental agencies on the matter of enhanced aviation security and its unforeseen and unintended impact on Sikh passengers," said Verpal Singh, Chairman of The Sikh Centre.

What is most heartening is that Pansy helped us without any quid pro quo.

"Her stature as a people's representative has risen many degrees in the community's eyes," added Singh.

"Pansy Wong has set an example for all those working with migrant communities, whether within or outside government, as to how to go about resolving any issues that an ethnic community might be confronted with."
